The Shopping List extras game is for young children in pre-school or in early Key Stage 1. It provides plenty of practice of matching (a key mathematical skill) as children match pictures to the items in their trolley. It's a fun maths early learning game that also helps with language development as all the items have the words clearly written beside them (word recognition and spelling are enhanced without the children focusing on it).
Be the first player to fill your trolley or basket with all the items on the shopping list.
This game can be played on its own as a two-player game or can be mixed with Shopping List and/or other Shopping List Extras to add variety and increase the number of players.
Each player takes a trolley or basket and chooses a shopping list.
Spread the item cards out, face down, on the table.
The youngest player begins by turning over a card.
If the item on the card is shown on the player's shopping list, the player puts the card in their trolley or basket.
If the item is not on the player's shopping list, the player must show the card to all other players before returning it to the table, face downwards.
Play passes to the next person.
Play continues until one player has filled their trolley or basket by collecting all the items on their shopping list.
Great for helping children recognise and read a wide variety of clothes!
